Which valley fits you?
Set what matters — the drive, the lie of the land, water, the mountains, the tax bill — and the regions rank themselves on measured data, not adjectives.

Beyond your drive time
How the ranking works
- Drive time — road minutes from downtown Calgary to each region's reference point, from OpenStreetMap routing without traffic. Regions whose shortest time exceeds your limit drop to the "beyond" list.
- The land — relief is the height difference within five kilometres of each region's centre, measured on the Canadian Digital Elevation Model. Flat favours low relief; rolling favours high.
- Near a river — straight-line distance from the region's centre to the Bow, Elbow, Sheep, Highwood, Kananaskis, Ghost or Jumpingpound.
- Close to the mountains — straight-line distance to the nearest terrain above 2,000 m. Proximity is not a guaranteed view; that depends on the parcel.
- Lower property tax — 2026 total residential mill rates from each county's tax rate bylaw.
Regions outside the terrain model (Mountain View County, Central Alberta and the Edmonton region) are ranked on drive time and tax only.
